What do Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey have in common?

They are both enormous fucking piece of shitarians.

This email could literally be 95,000 words long with addendum’s and video attachments and a host of recently printed articles from industry leaders world wide. But I’ll spare you the reading.

As our employee manual now states – “work place harassment is like cancer, no one wants it anywhere near their life.”

As a dude who’s been working in the restaurant industry for 4 decades now, I’ve seen and heard and witnessed a lot of really messed up stuff in the many kitchens I’ve worked in. In our own company, we’ve had men working for us be inappropriate with women. We’ve had women working for us be inappropriate with men. It doesn’t always start and stop with alcohol and sex and inappropriate comments and innuendos. It goes way past #metoo and long into #WTF.

it is unconscionable for me to imagine that an employee working in this company in any capacity, could experience work place harassment – at any level. And in this day and age, with all the floodlights focused on these issues, it’s of paramount importance that we address this, and be critically aware of what we are doing.

This is like the public service announcement at the airport warning you to tell authorities if anyone approaches you suspiciously. It takes a village to protect the children. Nothing goes unaddressed in this area of our roles and responsibilities.

The list is long of inappropriate things that an employee, a manager or a customer could say and do. We don’t tolerate any of them. What I don’t want is a culture where everyone is heavily auditing every single thing they do and say. We’ve built this company on hugs and kisses. That cannot stop. But we need to be extremely careful and conscious and mindful and HUMAN, about how this comes across and gets delivered.

Favoritism. Group humiliation. Sexual harassment. Racial discrimination. Gender discrimination. Any level of discrimination or humiliation of any kind – it’s the wrong kind. And in particular, any fucking whisper of an inappropriate sexual essence, needs to be a big deal.

Talk to your staff. Encourage open communication. Demand respect and kindness and extremely professional behavior at all times. This is who we are and how I’ve spoken and behaved since day one. Not patting myself on the back because I didn’t corner a woman in the office (except Dana) or awkwardly flirt with female staff or be a dick and use my weight to influence or humiliate or demean. I’m just being a human being, interacting with other human beings. Saying “I’m a good dad cause I don’t drink or do drugs or beat my kids” doesn’t make you a good dad. It makes you a dad and a fucking human being. No medals for not being a piece of shit. I expect everyone to walk above the line of these issues, not on it.

So, in summary, the message is – be an extremely kind human being. Speak to all employees as you would speak to your mother or your father or your brother or your sister. Demand that everyone else on your team does the same thing. This behavior and kindness is paramount to being employed in this company. And if and when the event does come to light that there is any discrimination going on, that employee needs to be terminated immediately. No second chances or reviews in that case. Be crystal clear on the facts – and fire that asshole.

Very impressive to see how quickly Matt Laurer was fired. That is a company who takes their company ethos to heart and didn’t wait for him to excuse himself next week after the world demanded it. They canned his ass immediately.

Bravo! (NBC actually)

Love y’all. Thanks for your help and attention and priority with this.
